American Mid-century artist Harry Bertoia would spend his daylight hours working on the monumental public projects for which he is so well known. In the evenings though, after dinner with the family, he'd return to his studio and work on small, intimate pieces, experimenting with new forms and techniques in a more manageable size. Though less lyric than many of his later sculptures the thrust of the cylindrical forms from the cubic core creates a powerful dynamic unusual for such a diminutive work. This piece comes with a certificate of authenticity from the Harry Bertoia Foundation.
