The designs of Pierre Casenove (France, b.1943) have been heavily influenced by his lifelong work in ceramics. To give this gilt bronze candelabra the naive, hand-built quality which is a hallmark of his pottery, Casenove builds the original model by hand, just as he does with his pottery. Unlike his pottery, which he fires in a kiln, he casts the original model for the candelabra in metal and, once extracted from the mold, patinates it to give the metal more visual depth.
