After receiving degrees in both ceramic engineering and fine art ceramics Eugene Friley (American, 1921-2019) taught in the Department of Fine Arts at Ohio State University for 43 years. His understanding of ceramics from an industrial viewpoint allowed him to create works on a monumental scale and his fine art training inspired his imagination. This exuberant, freeform ceramic is over 4 feet tall and can function as a sculpture or serve as a vessel for dried vegetation.
