Using stencils and airbrush to create his images, Mario Yrisarry's (b. 1933) gridded canvases are hard to categorize. WIth his all-over patterns and subtle manipulation of colors his works have been associated with Lyrical Abstraction and Op Art and the American Pattern And Decoration (P&D) Movement, among others. Mario Yrisarry stopped painting and exhibiting in 1977.
